3 Springtime Window Maintenance Tips

Spring is finally in the air. Now that the weather is more pleasant, it is the perfect time to clean out the garage, do some home organizing and, of course, give our windows a well-deserved cleaning. Old Man Winter can leave you with cloudy windows that can detract from your lovely outdoor view. We don’t want that. So, to help you take in spring in all its glory, here are three window maintenance tips that you should embrace.

Window Maintenance Tips

1. Clean Your Window Screens

While you’re cleaning your windows, why not take the time to clean your window screens as well? Thankfully, most window screens are easy to remove, and you can just prop them up against the side of your house and give both sides a good scrubbing with a non-abrasive brush and a mild cleaning solution.

2. Choose a Cloudy Day

Conventional wisdom might suggest that you do your window cleaning when the sun is out so that you can see what you’re doing clearly. Too much sunlight, however, can heat up your windows, causing the cleaning solution to dry too quickly. This will leave streaks, so it’s best to clean your windows during a cloudy or overcast day instead.

3. Use the Right Materials

The key to sparkling clean windows is to use the proper cleaning materials. You don’t really need any fancy cleaning products. You can make your own cleaning solution by mixing two parts of water with one part vinegar. For wiping your windows down, avoid using anything abrasive. Instead, just stick to a microfiber towel or cotton cloth.
