3 Good Window Maintenance Habits for 2021

With the new year fast approaching, we’re all setting our own personal goals and resolutions for self-improvement. This doesn’t only have to apply to yourself; this can also be applied to other aspects like your home, particularly your windows since they’re an integral part of your home’s function.

Good Window Maintenance Habits

Here are three good window maintenance habits to follow this year.

Remove Dust Buildup

Dust can be an eyesore. Remove any dust buildup on your windows by tying back or removing your curtains and blinds. This is also a great opportunity to clean them as well. You can use a dustpan brush, narrow-pointed vacuum or a broom handle to clean your window corners and sills to remove the dust residue.

Clean the Outside From the Indoors

Usually, you would clean your outdoor windows by stepping outside and getting a ladder to clean both your windows. Instead of using this method, you can tilt your windows inward so that you can clean the outdoor side as well. If you have casement windows, you can fully open the window to clean it. Having inward-opening windows can offer tons of convenience whenever you’re cleaning.

Clean Windows on a Cloudy Day

While most homeowners think of cleaning their windows on a sunny day since it makes it easier to see dirt, it can also dry the solution you’re using almost instantly, leaving water streaks on the glass. Consider cleaning your windows on a cloudy day so that you have enough time to let your windows dry. Most of all, beware of rainy days when you’re cleaning your outdoor windows.
