Getting the Most out of Your Windows

Your windows weren’t cheap — that much you know for sure. Being the investment that they are, you’re a little upset that you never really notice them. You’re frustrated that something with such a large price tag sits quietly in the walls of your home unnoticed by friends, neighbors, and relatives. Enough is enough; it’s time you started enjoying your windows. Here is how.

Dress them up – The first thing you can do to start appreciating your windows and the beautiful view that they behold is to dress them up. Be honest with yourself; those drapes do nothing for the interior of your home, so go out and find some curtains or drapes that you absolutely love. Once your windows are properly framed with linens you’ve been drooling over, you’ll love the way your windows look and make you feel.

Window seats – Everyone loves the window seat, and now you can have one in your house. There is no better place to read a book, enjoy a hot cup of coffee, talk on the phone, or watch the kids play than in a nice, cushy, pillow-filled bench seat under a large bay window. Trust us when we say, it’ll be your favorite room in the house all year round.

Clean them – Okay, we’re not pointing any fingers but when was the last time your windows got a good spring cleaning? You might be thinking that you’re annoyed because your windows are boring when subconsciously you could be avoiding eye contact because they’re so dirty. It’s just a thought. Dirty windows make the rest of the home seem unkempt. Smudges, hand prints, pollen, and dirt — none of it is attractive and can make you avoid your windows like the plague. Spend one weekend cleaning them and see how you feel about your windows afterward; perhaps it will mend the relationship.
